How To Start a Lawn Service Business

Before learning how to start a lawn care business you need to sit down and decide why you want to get into business for yourself. Over the years I have belonged to many different networking clubs, business building clubs, and marketing clubs. Some of these I have run and some I just went to build more business for myself. And every once in awhile I get people that come to the club and want to build a business. They have a full time job and a dream of doing something more, unfortunately they are missing something that is very important. PASSION!

Without passion and desire you will not succeed. So, you had better take a good hard look at what it is you want before wasting a ton of time and resources to your cause.

If after doing this you are ready to push forward, then great, congratulations on your new endeavour.

What kind of lawn service business do you want to start? You can get involved with all areas of lawn care or specialize in one or two areas.

Depending on what kind of money you are starting with and what kind of man power you will have might dictate what you can and cannot do.

As a one person lawn service business you can easily build up your clientele to be able to make a decent living. Get yourself a truck, insurance, business name, lawn care business cards, business license, business insurance, cell phone, equipment and start to market yourself.

There are many ways you can market your new lawn service business. Of course word of mouth is one of the best ways to do this, but I find that word of mouth does not come on strong at first. Personnally I would start off by going door to door in my neighborhood with some flyers that had some decent copywriting, and a great offer.

The nice thing about starting a lawn service business is that every week you will need to go back to your clients houses and cut the lawn. Of course you will have some clients that you see in the spring only while you do the seasonal maintance, and others you will see throughout the season.
